Titanium 6-2-4-2 bar(6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo) is an alpha-beta titanium alloy capable of being heat treated to higher strengths in greater section sizes that 6Al-4V. Widely used in forged components, 6-2-4-2 beta forged material has enhanced strength, ductility and a combination of good low-cycle fatigue and fatigue-crack growth resitance. This alloy is used in the intermediate compressor stages of turbine engines for disks and blades, seals and for airframe parts.
The development of many different alloys has extended the application of titanium in industries ranging from industrial and chemical processing to power generation. This grade possesses good weldability, strength, ductility and formability.

Titanium's outstanding corrosion resistance is due to the formation of a tightly adherent oxide film on its surface. When damaged, this thin invisible layer immediately reforms, maintaining a surface which is completely resistant to corrosive attack in sea water and all natural environments. This oxide is so resistant to corrosion that titanium components often look brand new even after years of service.
