Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex steel was developed in the early 1930’s. And they were mostly limited to specific uses and cast production .they contain high amount of carbon And by the end of 1960s the amount of carbon steel has been reduced with high chromiumn and nickel content while further balancing the austenite and ferrite structure And by doing his performance of duplex steel was improved. These duplex stainless steels share numerous similarities with the modern-day alloys in production today like Duplex 2205 (UNS S21803/32205).

Rapid rise of duplex

ISSF reveals that production rised from 6,000 metric tonnes a month in 2004 to 10,000 by 2005, and in 2008 reached 22,000. It is especially interesting to analyse the standard grade, 2205, with the lean duplex. Although production of grade 2205 increased in absolute terms, its market share decreased from around 67% in 2004 to around 47-48% in 2007-8. By contrast the market share of lean grade S32304 stood at 5% in 2006 and leapt to 13% in 2007 and to 17% in 2008
