Aluminium 2024 is heat-treatable aluminum alloy with copper as the primary alloying element. It is used in applications requiring high strength to weight ratio, as well as good fatigue resistance. Due to its high strength and fatigue resistance, 2024 is widely used in aircraft structures.

Aluminium / Aluminum alloys 2024 have strong corrosion resistance characteristics. These alloys are sensitive to high temperatures ranging between 200 and 250°C (392 and 482°F). An increase in strength takes place when these alloys are exposed at subzero temperatures and strength is lost when these alloys are exposed to high temperatures. Aluminium / Aluminum alloys are good low-temperature alloys.
